Welcome to the Worlds of Sarah A. Hoyt

Hi.
I'm Sarah A. Hoyt,

....
but you might be looking for one of my pen names: Elise Hyatt , Sarah D'Almeida
or for my historical
novels, Plain Jane (written under a house
name, Laurien Gardner) or No Will But His (under my
own name).
I
didn't set out to write in so many different genres, let alone under so
many names. Actually, I didn't set out to write at all.I wanted to grow
up to be a cat. Okay, I was three years old. By the
time I realized this was impossible, I'd focused on a new and dazzling
career -- first communion girl! I grew up in a small
village in Portugal and the first communion girls paraded down the
street in white, lacy dresses. The glam and glitz seduced
me. Until I realized it was not so much a career as a
seasonal, one-time gig. Being practical, I decided I'd become
something more permanent: an angel!
Not
only would I get the dress -- oh, no -- I'd also get the wings, which
would allow me to soar above my enemies and--
It's
probably best for all concerned that I wasn't willing to die to get the
job.
So
you see, by the time I was six, I'd come to the end of all my
reasonable ambitions. There remained only the
unreasonable: I'd become a novelist.
And
it only took a -- mumble -- number of years, a move from Portugal to
the US*-- where I live in Colorado with my husband, two sons and a
varying number of cats -- to achieve my ambition.
As
for why so many books and pen names, think about it: if I weren't doing
this, I'd probably be conquering the world. Which one would
you rather have? Sarah A. Hoyt the novelist, or Sarah A. Hoyt
the despot over all of the known world? Right. Me
too. But my husband says I have to confine myself to the
writing world!
He
never lets me have any fun!
*In case you
are wondering, yeah, English is my third language. Portuguese
is the first, then French, then English which I started to learn at
fourteen.
To
keep up on my world domination plans, friend me on Facebook – I’m Sarah
A Hoyt – or follow me at sarahahoyt on twitter! Alternately,
you can read my practically daily musings (okay, so some days I sleep
late) at According
To Hoyt!
